This archaeological park, with its partially reconstructed ancient pueblos, botanical garden, and museum, makes for a beautiful and relaxing day trip. 

Besh-Ba-Gowah was built by the Salado people between 1225 and 1400. A small but fascinating museum features local archeological findings and the history of the area and its people. There’s also a small gift shop with some unique items.

Strolling along the pathways through the pueblo ruins takes you back in time. Add in the Arizona native plants and a sense of serenity and peace embrace you. If you visit during the blooming seasons, it will be truly spectacular. 

Know Before You Go

Besh-Ba-Gowah is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays from July to September only. Other than that, it is open every day from 9 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and free for children aged 12 and under. 


The last stretch of road to the site is narrow and uphill. Check the website before visiting for any road construction or reroutes.
